At a height of 3600 meters, there is the ice lake of Manshuk, formed by glacial meltwater. Water flows out as a small river and disappears without a trace. The surrounding mountain peaks create magnificent views.

Season: January-December
Best period: June-November
Route difficulty: moderate trekking
Elevation changes: 2260-3600 m

The lake received its name from Manshuk Mametova – a brave machine-gunner during World War II. The route was laid through one of the main attractions of Kazakhstan – Medeo and the ski resort of Shymbulak. Tourists pass the Mynzhylki Gorge and the Alpingrad transfer site.

Numerous routes for tourists and climbers start here. Up in the mountains, the Ile-Alatau National Park is located. Here, the year-round hotels and tourist centers are open, which are so loved by the residents and visitors of Almaty city. The lake is surrounded by mountain peaks that create landscapes of mesmerizing beauty. Nearby, you can see the peaks of Amangeldy, Panfilov’s Guardsmen (Geroev Panfilovtsev), Pioneer (Pioner), Mayakovskij, Teacher (Uchitel’) and others.
