This truly amazing site, sight and sound occurs when winds blow over the ridges of the sand dunes when they are dry, causing the sand to shift and make a unique type of sound. They are located north-east of Almaty, in the country's largeset national park, Altyn-Emel.
At a height of 3600 meters, there is the ice lake of Manshuk, formed by glacial meltwater. Water flows out as a small river and disappears without a trace. The surrounding mountain peaks create magnificent views.

The lake received its name from Manshuk Mametova – a brave machine-gunner during World War II. The route was laid through one of the main attractions of Kazakhstan – Medeo and the ski resort of Shymbulak. Tourists pass the Mynzhylki Gorge and the Alpingrad transfer site.

The lake is surrounded by mountain peaks that create landscapes of mesmerizing beauty.
