This truly amazing site, sight and sound occurs when winds blow over the ridges of the sand dunes when they are dry, causing the sand to shift and make a unique type of sound. They are located north-east of Almaty, in the country's largeset national park, Altyn-Emel.
The Gorel’nik Gorge trekking is popular among tourists. The route takes one day, passes through picturesque places, exciting the delightful glances of tourists. The gorge is covered with heavy vegetation. Forests are full of berries, mushrooms, and mountain deer.

The gorge is famous for its waterfalls. The route will lead us to them. Tourists come to the places of amazing beauty. Here, among the rocks overgrown with fir trees, the roaring water falls down from the height. Moving along the slope, you will see another waterfall.
This beautiful place is associated with a dramatic spy story. It is believed that during the Great Patriotic War, the gorge hid the place for sabotage and reconnaissance groups trained by the NKVD. There are rumors that the saboteurs were trained here to penetrate into the enemy's rear. This information was never officially confirmed. However, such stories can be heard from the recent instructors of the center.
Not far from the Gorel’nik tourist center, you can see a sign, which says that here, in the period from 1943 to 1946, there was an instructor school, who trained thousands of instructors and mountain snipers for the army.
